Thieves break into 10 shops in one night

CHANDIGARH: Thieves broke into 10 shops in Sector 7, 46 and Ram Darbar and decamped with cash and late on Monday. The two thieves were caught on the CCTV cameras installed near the crime scenes when they were trying to break the locks of the shops. The police have registered a case and started investigations.

Miscreants broke into five shops in Sector 46 and decamped with Rs 1 lakh and goods. Anup Gupta reported that miscreants broke the lock of his shop SCO number 58, Sector 46, and stole Rs 10,000 from the cash box and some important documents. They also broke into the next shop took away cash around Rs 6,000.

Another shopkeeper Raj Kumar Gupta said that Rs 20,000. While Raj Kumar Bansal of Sector 46-D said that Rs 25,000 and dry fruits amt Rs 10,000 were stolen from his shop. Neeraj Kumar reported that around Rs 14,000 were stolen from his shop.

The police said that they received a information that unidentified persons entered shop numbers 57, 58, 60, 61 and 64 in the market. Ramesh Kumar, owner of shop number 57, stated that the accused took away around Rs 20,000 and other goods from the shops.

The watchman informed the owners of the shops about the theft. Cops from Sector 34 police station reached the crime spot with a forensic team and gathered finger prints. The police registered a case and were scrutinizing the CCTV footage of the area to get clues about the accused. Police suspects that same gang of thieves was involved in Ram Darbar and Sector 46 thefts.

Kundan Bairwa, a shopkeeper, in Ram Darbar, reported that miscreants entered into four shops, number 168, 175, 176 and 180, by breaking the locks of the shutter of the shops on the night of November 26. The shopkeepers stated that the incident came to light when they come to open their shops on Tuesday morning. Shopkeepers found locks of their shops broken and the shops ransacked.

Owner of Noor Saloon said the accused had stolen around Rs 2,200, a hair dryer, a threading machine and other goods from his shop. Another shopkeeper said that the accused took away Rs 2,500, packets of shampoos and perfumes from a medical shop. However, the accused did not find cash and goods from two other shops in Ram Darbar. The shopkeepers immediately informed the cops about the theft and on receiving the information, the cops from Sector 31 police station reached the spot and checked CCTV footage.

The police said that the accused had come in a car without covering their faces and had been caught in the footage. Both accused were in their mid-twenties. The Sector 31 police have registered a case and started investigations. On October 10, two unidentified persons had broken into four shops in the same market of Ram Darbar and fled with around Rs 50,000 and goods from the shops.

Miscreants also broke into an electronic shop in Sector 7 late on Monday. Ashok Kakkar, owner of the shop, said that the accused stole cash and electronics items from his shop.

The Sector 26 police have registered a case and started investigations. No arrest has been made so far.
