PSI booked for torturing wife, family members named too

Nagpur: An associate professor of an engineering college has accused her husband, an police sub-inspector at city crime branch, and his family members, of torturing her.
Cops have registered an offence against Rajkumar Tripathi and his kin for subjecting the woman to cruelty on October 25.

Shweta Tripathi, 33, had married Rajkumar on January 21, 2015. She claims in her complaint that in the initial months after marriage, the in-laws were treating her well. However, later on they started harassing her over regular household works and started demanding money from her. When Shweta denied, the accused allegedly locked her in a room and thrashed her.

Shweta also alleged that Rajkumar and his family members asked her to bring Rs10 lakh from her father . The complainant also claimed that Rajkumar put his service revolver on her head and threatening to kill her on September 25. Shweta shared her plea with her father who rushed to Gittikhadan police station and informed them about the incident.

The complainant alleged that initially police only rescued her but did not register her complaint. Gittikhadan police have now registered a case against Rajkumar and family members. Shweta is currently living with her parents.

Refuting the allegations, Rajkumar told TOI, “Allegations made by Shweta are baseless and fake. I am just a PSI, I don’t have any influence.”
