Measles vaccine campaign kicks off

NOIDA: The health department on Monday kicked off the central government’s free immunisation programme for Measles-Rubella, which will cover over six lakh children across the district. For the campaign, 184 teams have been formed across the district to administer the vaccine to children between nine months to 15 years of age.
India, along with ten WHO South-East Asia Region member countries, plans to eliminate and control rubella/congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) by 2020 through the programme.

Under the direction of the ministry of health and family welfare, the vaccination campaign has been initiated in a phased manner across the nation and will cover approximately 41 crore children. On Monday, the programme was kicked off at 193 different locations across the district including schools, community health centres, primary health centres and aanganwari centres, etc.
