Lawyer death: Dad alleges murder

KOLKATA: Mystery continues to shroud the death of a lawyer at his New Town flat early on Sunday after his father alleged that he might have been murdered. The victim’s wife, though, has contested the allegations. Rajat De (35) was found dead at his flat in New Town’s DB Block early on Sunday. He was taken to Subdivisional Hospital in Salt Lake where he was declared dead on arrival.

Rajat’s father Samir told police that he had received a call around 2am from his son’s brother-in-law, who told him that Rajat became unconscious after falling from his bed. Samir told police that when he took an app cab from his home at and reached the flat, he found the door ajar and his son lying dead on the floor. “The victim’s father said he had seen strangulation marks on the body and called New Town police. He also alleged that Rajat’s wife and brotherin-law had killed him,” said an officer of Bidhannagar Commissionerate.

Cops interrogated Rajat’s wife, who reportedly told the police that when she entered the room, she saw Rajat sitting on the floor. “When she poked at him, he fell on the floor,” his wife reportedly told cops.
